On Sunday 22nd September, junior member Annaya Harris traveled up to the north-east to compete in the regional North British schools qualifying competition. Leigh Judo club’s early years have laid the core foundations of an exciting and rewarding Olympic sport by teaching basic principles and judo technique based around key fundamentals and core values. However, with the Leigh Judo committee and volunteers hunger to continue the clubs success and development, a decision was made to help our members achieve more within judo by establishing a fun and supportive entry into an early stage competition and so the Leigh Judo Club Junior Competition was born.
This weekend nine of Leigh Judo Club junior judo players travelled to compete in the Kendal Coloured Belt Championships. For a number of the juniors it was their first foray into competitive judo. Leigh Judo Club reigned victorious last Sunday on the 7th February 2016, attaining five wins at the Kendal coloured and black belt competition, setting the New Year off to a positive start. The Kendal coloured and black belt competition is a regional affair hosting competitions four times a year. The club achieved 2 silver and 3 bronze medals – an absolutely outstanding accomplishment amongst its senior members.Continue reading New year medal success
Despite only just celebrating our first birthday Leigh Judo Club now have even more to celebrate. At the weekend we travelled to Kendal to attend their first regional competition as a club and returned with 4 silvers and 2 bronze medals.
